Officer safety is imperative when handling unknown substances in the field. Detect the smallest amount of fentanyl (0.5%) in mixed substances compared to other handheld scanners with NARKsafe® DrugDetect-F1. With this sensitive spectrometer, your team can presumptively test for fentanyl and methamphetamine without direct contact with the suspected drugs. Identify trace quantities of methamphetamine at 1.0% concentration or greater and fentanyl at 0.5% concentration or greater in mixtures through plastic bags or plastic wrap. Within seconds, a positive result will be determined by the indicating LED light if fentanyl or methamphetamine is present.

Touchless Technology
The DrugDetect-F1 scanner uses photoemission/reflection spectroscopy to detect fentanyl and methamphetamine through transparent, polyethylene plastic bags or plastic wrap. The target substance is illuminated at specific wavelengths of ultraviolet light to activate the relevant target molecules which are then analyzed by sensor’s electronics. No contact with the substance is required, but proper PPE should be worn when handling any suspected drugs. Please refer to your department for proper handling guidelines.
Note: The measurement should be done with the substance contained within a polyethylene plastic bag for officer safety. Do not use with evidence bags made with polystyrene as they are not transparent to the UV light being used by this device. See below for additional disclaimers.*
Easy-to-use Interface
Attach the light shield to the DrugDetect-F1. After turning on the device, place the aperture of the light shield over the powdered sample. Press the green button to activate the measurement cycle. Within seconds the sensor will provide a positive or negative result. To access and store data from screenings, use the software on the provided USB drive.
Compact, Durable Design
This point-and-shoot device is the size of a smartphone for convenience and easier mobility. It comes with a heavy duty, carrying case which provides additional protection for being out in the field.

Mucinex, Ibuprofen, Aspartame and Diphenhydramine yield false positives for methamphetamine.

- Oxycodone (which, if in large quantities, is according to PCSD itself a reason for arrest)

Presumptive identification is generally recognized within our legal system as a component of probable cause. There is no drug identification system presently in use which completely eliminates the occurrence of false positives and false negatives.
