When is fire not an accident? To determine this, the fire scene must be treated as a crime scene. In this course, students will learn how to properly document the scene as well as identify and collect key evidence for expert review and court submission. This course is aimed at both those beginning in fire investigation as well as those who are interested in learning more, including private investigators, law enforcement, legal representatives, and educators.

  • Introduction to Arson principles
  • Surveying the scene
  • Fire scene sketching and photography
  • Evidence management – sorting, packaging, documentation
  • Practical hands-on exercises
